More Examples of Ritual Parts

My tradition tends to do a lot with the quarter calls during a ritual. You can tell this by the sheer quantity of examples I have to show you.

Calling the Quarters

Power of the (East, South, West, North), essence of (Air, Fire, Water, Earth), welcome!
Balance our Circle with (wisdom and inspiration, passion and warmth, cleansing and change, strength and foundation).
- Thalia Clan: Cecylyna

Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the (East, South, West, North), ye Lords of (Air, Fire, Water, Earth); I do summon, stir, and call you up, to witness our rites and to guard the Circle.
- Alexandrian: Janet and Stuart Farrar

By the Air that is Her breath,
Powers of the East, send forth your light!
By the Fire that is Her spirit,
Powers of the South, send forth your flame!
By the Waters of Her living womb,
Powers of the West, send forth your flow!
By the Earth that is Her body,
Powers of the North, send forth your strength!
- Faery Tradition: Starhawk

I face the [East, South, West, North]
I see... (say what you see: i.e., "a meadow filled with new Spring flowers")
I feel...(i.e. "the breeze blow through my hair")
I smell... (i.e. "the scent of spring rain and new grass")
I hear... (i.e. "the sound of pipes on the breeze")
Welcome, Power of the (East, South, West, North), essence of (Air, Fire, Water, Earth)!
Balance our Circle with (wisdom and inspiration, passion and warmth, cleansing and change, strength and foundation).
- Thalia Clan: Cecylyna

(Quarter calls can be considerably longer and more poetic:)
Earth my bone, my body,
Mountain my breast,
Green grass and leafy tree
My trailing hair,
Rich dark dust, oozing mud,
Seed sending white root deep,
Carpet of molding leaves,
Be our bed!
By the Earth that is Her body,
Powers of the North, send forth your strength!

Air, my breath, breeze of morning,
Stallion of the dawn star,
Whirlwind, bearing all that soars in flight,
Bee and bird,
Sweet fragrance,
Wailing storm's voice,
Carry us!
By the Air that is Her breath,
Powers of the East, send forth your light!

Fire, my heart, burn bright!
My spirit is a flame,
My eye misses nothing.
A blaze leaps from nerve to nerve
Spark of the solar fire!
An answering heat rises, unbearable delight!
The flames sing, consume us!
By the Fire that is Her spirit,
Powers of the South, send forth your flame!

Water, my womb, my blood,
Wash over us, cool us.
Waves sweep ashore on white wings,
The rush, hiss, the rumble of stones
As the tide recedes,
That rhythm, my pulse,
Flood, gushing out,
We pour ourselves out,
Sweep us away!
By the Waters of Her living womb,
Powers of the West, send forth your flow!
- Faery Tradition: Starhawk

Who do we call; who comes from the East?
The air, the air, the late-summer air
The air of the dawn before the day's heat
That blows through the fields, that blows through my hair
That wakens the mind, that wakens the wisdom
We welcome the knowledge, we welcome the wisdom
Welcome, o East! Welcome to Air!

Who do we call; who comes from the South?
The fire, the fire, the hot summer sun
The fire of the power of the noon of the day
That beats on my skin, that beats on the ground
That enflames the spirit's desire and courage
We welcome desire, we welcome the power
Welcome, o South! Welcome to Fire!

Who do we call; who comes from the West?
The water, the water, the warm summer water
The rain that refreshes as twilight begins
That drops on my face, that drops on the trees
That cleanses the heart, that soothes and brings hope
We welcome the soothing, we welcome the love
Welcome, o West! Welcome to Water!

Who do we call; who comes from the North?
The earth, the earth, the rich summer earth
The earth that brings forth fruit at midnight and noon
The rocks and the roots and the rhythm beneath
That strengthens my body, that nourishes all
We welcome the roots, we welcome the richness
Welcome, o North! Welcome to Earth!
